Crystal Serum Light: Application Information
Simple steps to help you get the best results
Using a new product on your vehicle may cause some hesitation, and our team understands that. However, at Gtechniq, we make the application process simple and effective. To get the best results from Crystal Serum Light, follow these steps:
- To apply Crystal Serum Light (CSL), make sure your vehicle is indoors and can stay indoors for 12 hours after application. Do not apply in direct sunlight.
- Only apply the product at a temperature between 5°C and 25°C.
- Shake well and wear gloves.
- Wash and decontaminate your paintwork thoroughly prior to application. If required, polish your paintwork, either by machine or hand, to remove any imperfections. We recommend starting with a ceramic coat to prevent interference of debris throughout the process
- Spray Panel Wipe into a Gtechniq MF1 Microfibre Cloth and wipe down each panel in small sections.
- Soak the application pad with 3 full measures of CSL from the pipette and work the liquid into the pad to get an even saturation.
- Replace the lid on the bottle and set aside – do not keep the bottle in your hand as this promotes premature curing.
- Apply in overlapping strokes to an area roughly 2ft by 2ft, or work to the body lines of the vehicle.
- Immediately remove residue with an MF1 cloth – you may need to buff the same area several times, but avoid doing it with too much force. We recommend the use of 2 cloths at any one time. Make sure the cloths are rotated during residue removal to prevent CSL curing in the cloth – this can make buffing residue difficult.
- Inspect the surface for residue with a bright, diffused light source.
- If you remove residue and it cures fully, you should polish the area and reapply CSL.
- As soon as you finish, put your MF1 cloths in water, wash, and dry them as soon as possible.
- Wait approximately 2 hours after applying CSL to apply EXO Ultra Durable Hydrophobic Coating or C2 Liquid Crystal.
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Use within 3 months of opening.

EXOv5: Application Information
Simple steps to help you get the best results
- EXOv5 can be applied as a standalone sealant or as a top layer for Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer or Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light (CSL) – we recommend applying C1 or CSL as a base coat for easy to mark and dark paints
- If you are applying over C1, EXOv5 should be applied a minimum of 4 hours, but less than 12 hours, after you finish the C1 application
- If you are applying over CSL, EXOv5 can either be applied straight away starting the process at the same place you did with CSL. For best results wait two hours before applying to let the product flash-off longer
- Ensure that your vehicle is out of direct sunlight but warmer than 5 degrees celsius, is completely dry and will stay dry for at least 12 hours after application
- Wipe down all surfaces using Gtechniq Panel Wipe and a Gtechniq MF1 ZeroR Microfibre Buff Cloth (apply the Panel Wipe to the cloth and buff – not directly to the panel) – if you are applying over newly applied C1 or CSL, this step is not required
- Shake the bottle well and wear gloves
- Prime the AP2 Ultra Soft Foam Filled Applicator evenly with a good amount of product so that the pad is damp
- Apply with applicator provided in overlapping strokes to a small panel or half a large panel. Immediately remove residue with an MF1 cloth – you may need to buff the same area several times, but avoid doing it with too much force, followed by a second MF1 to remove any smearing, leaving the surface slick
- Allow the coating to cure for at least 12 hours before getting wet
- After application we recommend that you do not wash the car for at least a week
- Store in a cool, dry place
- Use within 3 months of opening
