Product Description

Why Use Marine Ceramic Top?

Marine Ceramic Top is a marine grade nano ceramic coating that delivers unmatched dirt repellency, high gloss, and surface slickness for boat owners who demand long-lasting protection in harsh marine environments. This protective layer bonds permanently to your gelcoat, topcoat, or a previously installed layer of Marine Ceramic Base, providing years of protection against UV rays, water spots, and environmental contaminants.

Unlike traditional waxes or polymer sealant products that break down quickly in salt water and sun exposure, this marine ceramic coating features an exceptionally strong anti-static function that keeps marine surfaces dust-free while preventing premature fading and oxidation.

Application Information

Simple steps to help you get the best results

  • If applying directly to gelcoat or topcoat, polish the surface to remove any imperfections.
  • Ceramic Top bonds best to surgically clean surfaces. Use Gtechniq Panel Wipe and a Gtechniq MF1 Microfibre to remove all polish residue.
  • Soak the application pad with product. Spread onto an area measuring no more than 2’ by 2’ (60 x 60cm) and remove residue with a Gtechniq MF1 Microfibre.
  • Product usage – The amount of product you will need will vary depending on factors such as the micro porosity of either your gel coat or marine topcoat.  Requirement will be anywhere between 5.5 to 7ml/square meter (0.5 to 0.7 ml/square foot).

The Gtechniq Difference

At Gtechniq, we develop marine protection products using advanced nanochemistry designed to outperform in real-world marine environments. Marine Ceramic Top exemplifies this commitment, providing boat owners and professional detailer specialists with superior protection against the unique challenges of the marine environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What prep work is required before applying Marine Ceramic Top?

Proper application starts with thorough surface preparation. If your gel coat shows oxidation or imperfections, use a rotary polisher with an appropriate wool pad to restore the surface. Clean all surfaces with Panel Wipe and a microfiber towel to remove any residue. Work in a small section at a time for best results. For heavily oxidized boats, a clay bar treatment may also be beneficial.

Can Marine Ceramic Top be applied directly to gelcoat or does it require Ceramic Base first?

Marine Ceramic Top can be applied directly to your boat's gelcoat or topcoat as a standalone coating. However, for maximum protection, we recommend applying it over Marine Ceramic Base. The two-stage application process delivers superior protection and durability compared to single-layer ceramic coating products.

Is Marine Ceramic Top suitable for vinyl surfaces or inflatable boats?

Marine Ceramic Top is specifically formulated for gel coat and marine paint surfaces. For vinyl surface protection or inflatable boat applications, consult your professional detailer or consider Gtechniq products designed for those specific materials.

How does Marine Ceramic Top compare to traditional waxes?

Marine ceramic coating offers significantly longer-lasting protection than traditional waxes. While wax requires frequent reapplication and breaks down quickly with salt water and UV exposure, Marine Ceramic Top creates a permanent bond that delivers years of protection, UV protection, and a slicker surface that repels water spots and environmental contaminants.

How do I maintain my boat after applying Marine Ceramic Top?

With proper care, maintaining your coated boat is simple. Regular fresh water rinses after salt water exposure and gentle washing will keep surfaces looking their best. The coating's dirt-repellent properties mean less scrubbing during each wash, and maintenance becomes far easier than with uncoated surfaces. For ongoing protection, consider topping up with Ceramic Fast Coat.

Easy to apply, easier to clean after coating, overall great product! The two stage ceramic process takes a little longer but seems to work better than a single stage ceramic coating.
