What's so special about Gtechniq P1M Nanocomposite Polish?
P1M is faster, less damaging to substrates and produces a better finish than current generation polishes. This is possible because we have been able to source a very consistently sized sub micron abrasive particle. As the particle is so consistent we are able to drop almost all the lubricants from the formula. What this means is that whilst polishing you have significantly more active ingredient working the surface thereby making the polish work faster than conventional compounds etc. Furthermore, having such tiny abrasive particles means P1M generates significantly less heat than ordinary compounds plus it also means than instead of needing a cutting compound, medium compound and finishing glaze all of which requiring at least one sometimes two different polishing pads used in conjunction with pSystem HotSwap pads (cpr2, mpr2 & fpr2) P1M will typically do the work of these three products with less holograms and no drop back. Perfecting marine surfaces using pSystem (P1M and HotSwap pads) typically requires half the amount of passes with the rotary machine than with conventional systems which follows Gtechniq's philosophy of spending more time sailing your boat than polishing it!
Technical note for Awlgrip polyester urethane top coats. P1M is the only polish that does not massively compromise the longevity of Awlgrip finishes - see here for details.
How do I get the best from this product?
P1M is very versatile. You can use it to remove minor oxidation by hand, with a random orbital or with a rotary polisher. You might think that because most hand polishes contain a high percentage of fillers, P1M would be an also ran if used by hand. In fact the opposite is true. Even we didn't expect P1M to be a strong performer when used by hand but when we tested it against products widely regarded as the best hand polishes, P1M showed them the way. Furthermore because P1M doesn't use fillers your new finish that also used a lot of elbow grease won't deteriorate!
However for fastest and for best results we recommend a rotary (preferably a Makita 9227 CB). Many beginners fear using a rotary since with normal polishes it is very easy to burn the surface. As P1M generates about half the amount of heat a normal polish does, surface burning is extremely rare.
For best results we recommend using pSystem HotSwap pads in conjunction with P1M. If you are new to detailing you may want to benefit from our pSystem pro kit which comprises 1l of P1M, all the pads and backing plate or the pSystem intro kit which comprises 0.5l of P1M, the cutting and finishing pads and the backing plate.
